The 1999 snowflake is crafted of six-pieces of black walnut. The design, "American Quilt", was created using AutoCAD in collaboration with Dick's son, an architect. The wood is the best quarter sawn black walnut available. The rich, dark brown ornament is approximately 4" (100 mm) in diameter. The natural wood is finished with clear acrylic over shellac.
